Standing Up for Credit Unions

A Message from Gina Wilson, CEO

Nearly 1.5 million Oklahomans—and over 140 million Americans—rely on their credit union for safe, affordable financial services. As a not-for-profit cooperative, your credit union exists to serve members, not shareholders. That difference is what allows us to offer better rates, lower fees, and personalized, member-first service.

Recently, proposed changes to credit union taxation have raised concern. While we’re a state-chartered credit union and already pay state taxes, this issue affects us all. When any credit union is threatened by unfair tax policy, the entire movement—and every member—is impacted.

Credit unions serve more than 271,000 people right here in Oklahoma’s Congressional District 1, bringing nearly $24 million in financial benefits last year alone. Unlike banks, which direct most of their loans to big businesses, 75% of credit union loans go to households like yours.

We’re proud to have served our community for 84 years. And we’re standing strong with credit unions across the country to protect what makes us different: our not-for-profit, member-owned model.

A tax on credit unions is a tax on hardworking Oklahomans—and we won’t stop speaking up for our members.
