Mission Statement

The Mission of Oklahoma Central Credit Union (OCCU) is to make a difference in the lives of our employees, members and the communities we serve.

 

Our History

OCCU has helped Oklahomans meet their financial goals, solve problems and turn opportunities into accomplishments since 1941.

1941

  • Received our state charter to lend to Oklahoma state credit union officials and serve as a depository for state credit unions
  • 27 charter members
  • $628 in assets

1950's

  • Grew to 452 members
  • $171,000 in assets

1960's

  • Grew to 2,000 members and $1,300,000 in assets
  • Built our office located at 55th & Peoria
  • Began operating separately from the Oklahoma Credit Union League

1970's

  • Grew to over 3,600 members
  • Over $9,600,000 in assets
  • Acquired NCUA Federal Insurance for our members' deposits
  • Began serving Select Employee Groups with no other credit union available

1980's

  • Grew to over 19,000 members
  • Over $13,300,000 in assets
  • Joined TransFund Network
  • Installed TESS audio response system
  • Moved Headquarters from 55th & Peoria to 41st & Garnett location

1990's

  • 26,500 members at year-end
  • $77,000,000 in assets—8th largest in state
  • Completed drive-thru expansion at 41st & Garnett
  • Remodeled and added drive-thru at 55th & Peoria
  • Acquired World & Tribune Federal Credit Union and incorporated as branch (5th & Peoria)
  • Kids Club, 1996
  • Completed 41st & Garnett remodel and expansion, 1997
  • Dedication of 41st & Garnett Building, 1997
  • Time Capsule Burial, 1997
  • American Share Insurance (ASI), 1998

2000's

  • Website is launched, 2000
  • Home Banking made available to members, 2000
  • eStatements made available, 2001
  • Port of Catoosa Branch built and opened, 2001
  • Grew to over 31,000 members
  • Over $162,500,000 in assets
  • Systems enhancement to view cleared checks online, 2003
  • Online custom check ordering made available, 2003
  • Broken Arrow Branch built and opened, 2004
  • Opened Mid-South Branch, 2004
  • Acquired Oil Capital Community Credit Union and incorporated its single Branch (LaFortune), 2004
  • Branding initiative with new logo and slogan, 2005
  • Started offering Online Bill Pay service, 2005
  • BA Partners in Education program started, 2005
  • Billfold Bash benefiting Junior Achievement, 2005
  • Presenting Sponsor for Art of BBQ benefiting Art & Humanities Council, 2005 – 2009
  • Partnered with Elan Financial Service to offer Visa credit card services with rewards, 2007
  • Acquired WilServ Credit Union and incorporated its three branches (Williams Resource Center, 81st & Yale, Cherokee Industrial Park), 2007
  • Launched Member Business Services program, 2008
  • Began offering High School Check Cards, 2008
  • Implemented Student Loan program, 2008
  • Launched FinanceWorks™, a member financial management tool, 2009

2010's

  • Tulsa Hills Branch built and opened, 2010
  • Started offering Debit Card Rewards, 2011
  • Started offering Mobile Banking, 2011
  • Started offering Shared Branching, 2011
  • Built and opened Brookside Branch, 2012
  • Merged with Riverwest Federal Credit Union and incorporated its single branch (Riverwest), 2012
  • Member Engagement Program with initiated, 2012
  • Built and opened Sheridan South Branch, 2013
  • Universal Agent concept was instituted at Sheridan South, 2013
  • My Tulsa Library Community Card benefiting Tulsa's Central Library renovation was launched, 2014
  • Started offering Smart Deposit, 2014
  • Over $486,800,000 in assets as of September 2014
  • Grew to over 34,000 members
  • Over $500,000,000 in assets, 2015
  • Owasso branch built and opens, 2017

2020's
